AgileRates - Helping Consumers with Auto and Home Insurance
Company Overview: AgileRates was a performance marketing company operating in the verticals of Auto, and Home. AgileRates was founded in 2017 with the vision to make Auto Insurance simple for consumers. AgileRates ramped up operations quickly, reaching 1 million in revenue in about 7 months. The business was acquired by Excel™ in 2020.
Role: Chief Technology Officer & Co-Founder
Interesting Projects
- Developed a data warehouse from day one on Redshift, with powerful visualizations on Power BI. Enabled AI insights and text to graphs in Power BI.
- Built a scalable frontend environment powered by CloudFront, ECS and WordPress. The sites and services were serving tens of thousands of consumers a day with under 1000 millisecond fully loaded time.

Team & Leadership
At AgileRates I developed myself as a business leader. Previously I had been very involved in the execution of different parts of the business, deep in the trenches building software and solutions. At AgileRates took a leap and developed a small team that took care of the day to day operations, freeing me to think about the big picture and develop as a leader. That experience really taught me the power of autonomy and context over control. This experience also taught me the power of a good data warehouse, and that simple is often times better. With a small team we had a tremendous impact, and carried very little technical debt. My time at AgileRates was full of learnings and growth.
